Welcome to Quiet Minds!

Welcome to a creative haven where art becomes a pathway to healing, calm and self-discovery. Quiet Minds is a space where creativity helps quiet the noise of everyday life and reconnect you with the present moment. Artists and creatives are welcome—but no art skills or experience are required. This is a judgment free space where the focus isn’t on the final product, but on the experience itself. At Quiet Minds we celebrate every step, every stroke, and every part of your creative journey. The goal of these sessions is to help you enter a state of flow—a place where your mind settles, distractions fade, and you become fully present. Through simple creative practices, you will learn to slow down, reconnect with yourself and experience the peace that creativity can bring. Classes are currently offered in person, with virtual classes available soon. You can join a scheduled group class or arrange a private individual or group class at a time that works best for you. I will travel depending on cost and distance. Please reach out—I would love to help you create a meaningful experience.

Why Healing Arts and Why Now?

Creative expression has powerful benefits for both the mind and body. Practices like painting, drawing, poetry, movement and other creative outlets can support emotional well-being and help restore balance in our busy lives. Research shows that engaging in creative activities can promote neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to rewire and reshape itself. When we create, we activate multiple areas of the brain—linking areas responsible for planning, problem-solving, memory and emotional regulation. Studies have found that art therapy can:

  • lower stress and reduce cortisol levels

  • improve cognitive skills, especially in older adults

  • increase gray matter in the brain

  • support emotional resilience and self-awareness

  • enhance social connection and empathy

  • slow the progression of conditions like dementia

According to the American Art Therapy Association, “Art therapy is used to improve cognitive and sensory-motor functions, foster self-esteem and self-awareness, cultivate emotional resilience, promote insight, enhance social skills, reduce and resolve conflicts and distress, and advance societal and ecological change”.

Research also shows that creative expression—from dance, poetry and even adult coloring books—can help alleviate trauma symptoms, reduce anxiety related to illness or life transitions and support people navigating grief or end-of-life experiences. It helps us reconnect with ourselves, with others and with our communities. And in today’s world, that sense of connection and calm may be more important than ever.

Quiet Minds is a welcoming space where creativity becomes a path to calm, connection and self-discovery.
